As both are currently enjoying studying for EdDs, they also consider the importance of research and how they balance the roles of SENCO, family and doctoral research. As an adoptive parent, Naomi also shares about the landscape of foster care and the barriers that care-experienced children often face.






About Joni...
Professor Joni Holmes is a Professor of Psychology and Dean of Research at the University of East Anglia, and Senior Affiliated Scientist at the Medical Research Council’s Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, University of Cambridge. Joni is an internationally recognised leader in transdiagnostic neurodevelopmental research. She has a strong track record of directing large-scale, cross-sector programmes including the Centre for Attention, Learning and Memory (CALM), a multimillion-pound initiative that pioneered data-driven, cross-disciplinary approaches to understanding developmental differences with meaningful stakeholder collaboration. Her work has revolutionised theoretical and methodological approaches to understanding neurodevelopmental conditions, with impacts on policy and practice. Joni has a PhD in Psychology, which was awarded by the University of Durham in 2005. Prior to joining the University of East Anglia in 2021, Joni held numerous academic positions around the UK.
